Hi all !

After our moove to our new house and loads of work Undecided i decided to start
working at least on the base and the dual linked rudders so i can setup MIP/pedestal/overhead
then i`m able to test the upcoming interfaces Roll Eyes

Here are some pics of the beginning "dual linked rudder section" and rudder mechanics!

Kind regards

Hi Georg
Some heavy duty materials you have chosen. Should not be a problem supporting a car Smiley
I'm looking with interest on your pedal setup. Do you have some drawings that show how it will work?
Anyway, good to have you back in business!!

Hi Nax! Smiley

I`m happy for myself i can get back into business a bit more Cheesy

The initial idea for the dual linked rudders i found on the mycockpit.org forum.
Here is the link:
http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php?10381-Boeing-737-rudder-pedals-construction

It is constructed out of 1/2 zoll installation fittings that are perfect for this.

My design will be bit different like the one from mycockpit.
The complete linkage should be underneath the cockpit floor not above.

I have a supplyer on hand that sells hydraulik dampers with adjustable force at both ends.
Also both rudder sections (pilot/copilot) should be on rails to adjust the pedals for longer legs Grin

I`m building the complete setup twice (for my friend) and will do exact plans and material list
as soon everything comes together like it should and is tested Cool
If you like to start on this yourself a bit before the plans are finished you can
email me for details i have right now.

Kind regards

Looks really really nice on mycockpit.org and I will take the same route I think. I will try to make some sketchup drawings in the near future.

Today I did some drawing. It's defenatly based on you and the photos i did see on mycockpit.org.
There is some fine tuning to be done, but its basicly there. Looks like a easy thing to construct, exept the pedals. I have to find a way to do it simple.
The height and width is not exact. I have to find some measurements. this have to fit into the pedal casing, so small adjustments will come.
I have chosen to keep the mechanics over the floor because this will allow adjustments back and forth if your legs is longer/shorter. Since there will be a casing the only part going in the open is the crossbeam, and that will be hidden behind the CDU-bay.

Overview

Bracket to support the bolt that will pick up the rudder movements. Have to be quite rigid.

Gas struts to give the right feel. They have to be free to move out while the other one is pressurized, or else there will be no nullzone.

Hi Nax!

Your construction looks very interesting  Wink
And i hope the idea with the support bracket between the pedal beams work out.

As a mechanic i think the other method from Mycockpit will do better.

My complete pedals and gas struts and the bracket for the linkage will be on a slide
under the floor connected to a thread bolt driven by a electric gearbox and connected to
a fingerprint sensor.
So when i put my finger on the sensor the pedals automatic will adjust to my legs Grin
<just a gimmic for fun Cool

When i find time on weekend i do a hand drawing and scan it in.
I have right now no time to do this in CAD like you Undecided

Today 4 different gas and oil struts arrived and i hope i do big step forward this weekend.

When you need measurements just email me quick and i send you a lot of them also the pedals ones.

Kind regards

I have found some measurements and got some on cockpitbuilders.com. Actually from the same guy as the posted the pics on mycockpit.org.
I have also looked over my drawings and found some things to adjust but main problem as it is now is that I will not get 10cm+/- on the pedals.
I have to scratch my head some more.

By the way the drawings are made in sketchup. Great free tool by google.

Noticed quite a few problems and did some drawing today as well.
I think this tidy it up quite well and should make it easier to construct.

Well, I can't say I really understand those drawings but you got a hang on the CAD prog. Good!
How is the progress on those pedals?

Hello Georg,

nice setup. Do you have the intension to add a second pedal area for F/O and couple them together?
If yes, i will build it for my self, if not, i will build it also  Grin

Hi Michael! Wink

Yes! It will become a complete unit duallinked Grin

The first parts for the pedals itself are in production now.
I will put different versions into the webshop as soon everything is finished and tested.
Also i will put the pedals as a standalone in the webshop for builders only need them.

Stay tuned for updates here....
